As the quarantine has gone on, we have discovered some more activities that will help you get through this very strange moment in history.
- Garden! Now is the perfect time to make your garden look spectacular, with colorful flowers and edible plants, such as herbs (we recommend basil to garnish a plate of pasta), or veggies (we recommend a lettuce mix to make fresh salads). Pemberton is a great place for plants, with helpful workers, and a variety of flowers.
- Read! An awesome way to relax and unwind is to dive into a new book, or reread a favorite. If you don’t have books to read, that’s not a problem! We used a list of the best young adult books of all time (you can do whatever genre you’re into) to find suggestions. It’s also cool to see how many books in the list you’ve read. If you want to buy any books, and would prefer to not use Amazon, then go to Bookshop! Bookshop supports local bookstores, which is especially great now, as many local businesses are losing customers due to the quarantine.
- Call your family! Spend some time chatting with parents, uncles, aunts, cousins, etc. you haven’t talked to in a while via Zoom or just the old-fashioned phone call! Catching up with family members will, hopefully, bring you joy. Remember: Social distancing does not mean social isolation!
- Cook! Make a recipe that you’ve always wanted to try. We made Thai rice porridge with pork today (and it was yummy!). When you can finally have friends over (or even go to potluck!) you’ll have new dishes to show off (or know which ones to never make again).
